Remove Odors from stinky shoesIt might surprise you to know that there are approximately 250,000 sweat glands in your feet and that the sweat glands in your feet can produce as much as half a pint of moisture each day. That’s a lot of sweat! Combine all these sweat glands and all the sweat and put it into a dark, damp, shoe and the result can be disastrous. If you add to this already funky situation that fact that more and more people are jumping on the sockless shoe trend we move from disastrous to a noxious calamity.

But never fear – if you are someone in your home suffers from Stinky-Shoe-Syndrome there are some solutions to help fight the odor that threatens your domicile. We recommend a home remedy / DIY antidote as way to address the invisible fumes rising from the offending foot wear. Please realize that taking care of smelly feet will require action against the foot and the shoe, our solution focuses on the shoe.

What You Need

Smelly Shoe Recipe

  • Dried Leaves such as Lavender, Rosemary or Bay (you can be adventurous here and even try cedar chips or other more ‘manly’ ingredients)
  • Dried Lemon or Orange peels
  • 3-4 drops of The Summit’s Tahitian Lime Essential Oil
  • Aromatic Bags or Fabric Squares or Kids Socks

Directions

Lay the ingredients in the middle of your fabric square and add a few drops of the essential oil. Fold the corners of the cloth up and tie with a rubber band or twist tie and then add a ribbon or bow for aesthetics. The idea is the same for a child’s sock – after adding the ingredients, tie the top off. Then put your new deodorizing scented packages into your shoes and let them sit overnight. Your shoes should be fresh and ready to wear in the morning. Remember to wash your feet with soap and if necessary use vinegar or other bacteria killing agent to keep your feet fresh all day.
