The mere thought of a warm, soothing bath is enough to start melting away the stress and tension that builds up in our lives over time. If you enjoy a hot soak in the tub as way to relax and end your day then try this recipe for Sandalwood Bath Salts. The addition of Sandalwood to your bath will wash away your concerns as well as rejuvenate your skin.
What You Need:
Before beginning make sure you have all the necessary ingredients, a non-porous bowl for mixing and a jar for storing.
- 1/2 cup baking soda (bicarbonate of soda)
- 1/2 cup tartaric acid
- 1/4 cup cornflour
- 4 drops of The Summit’s sandalwood essential oil (a little goes a long way)
- 20 drops scented essential oil (lavender, geranium, etc…)
- 2 drops of The Summit’s lime essential oil, (Mandarin or Tangelo Essential Oil will also work)
- Sterilized glass jar for blending and storage
First – mix all the dry ingredients together in a ceramic bowl. Make sure the ingredients are thoroughly mixed together.
Second – add 4 drops of The Summit’s Sandalwood Essential Oil. A little oil goes a long way so measure out your drops. Start with four and if you feel like you need more you can add 1-2 more drops. Make sure to stir as you add the drops
Third – add 2 drops of a citric essential oil such as The Summit’s Tangelo, Mandarin, or Tahitian Lime essential oils. Stir as you add the drops.
Fourth – add 20 drops of your favorite scented essential oil such as geranium, rose or lavender. Once again, stir as you add the drops.
Once you have thoroughly mixed in your essential oils you can transfer your concoction to a glass jar for safe keeping. Screw the lid on tight and place the jar in a dark cool place for 2-3 days so the oils can blend. It would also be a good idea to periodically shake the jar to stir things up and to keep the solution from clumping.
After blending, your bath salts are ready to use. Add ½ cup of the salts to running water so the salts and oils are completely dispersed in your bath. To enhance the experience consider lighting some candles and playing some soft music.
Soak and Enjoy!
